Old Mutual PLC (OM) is a multi-national financial services organisation providing a broad range of assurance, banking and investment products and services.
For the period September 2001 – March 2003 performed the role of a Consultant within the Old Mutual Siebel Centre of Excellence (OMSCOE). The role of OMSCOE is to ensure: effective, consistent implementations of Siebel across the OM Group, provide advice and guidance to all Business Units involved with Siebel, provide and communicate all Siebel related knowledge to Business Units and centrally manage visibility rules, LOV, Siebel data model and Siebel integration architecture.
The central Old Mutual Siebel implementation consisted of Campaign Execution, Lead and Opportunity Management, New Business Administration and Servicing functionality. The implementation made use of Assignment Manager, Business Services, Computer Telephony Integration, Enterprise Integration Manager, Integration Objects and Workflow Processes
Siebel Consultant – Old Mutual Siebel Centre of Excellence (September 2001 – March 2003)
Position’s responsibilities included:
- Ensuring the use of the OMSCOE methodology
- Evaluation of system readiness for deployment
- Ensuring adequate documentation is in place and delivered before sign-off
- Collection and evaluation of technical and integration requirements for new projects
- Co-ordination and supervision of test, pilot and production environments
- Central administration of Siebel
- Quality assurance: configuration review, data model extensions, data conversion, volumes and quality
Projects / achievements include:
- OMSCOE Consultant to a Siebel 7 Merge & Upgrade project – objective of project was to merge and upgrade 4 independent Siebel applications onto a single Siebel 7 platform. Role involved the following:
- Evaluated the Version 7 system for readiness (including User Acceptance testing).
- Defined the documentation requirements, developed specific documentation and provide 1st line Quality Assurance for the documentation delivered by external vendors
- Managed the data loading processes (definition of business requirements, quality and volume assurance) into the Version 7 application (the migration of the previous Version’s data and new loads).
- Provided Siebel related advice to the Strategic Business Units regarding the Siebel implementation. Supplied practical solutions to business problems.
- Enforced use of the OMSCOE Methodology
- Siebel Administrator – performed the role of a Siebel Administrator on a Siebel 6 (Application & System administration) and a Siebel 7 (Application administration) application.
- Development of a "Siebel Service Request Management" system - using MS Access developed a system to manage and report on the Siebel Service Requests raised by the organisation. Analysed the requirements, developed and implemented the system
Foschini Group Limited (
www.foschinigroup.co.za) – Cape Town, South Africa January 1999 – August 2001
The Foschini Group is a retailer of clothing, jewellery, accessories, cosmetics and sporting apparel to the broad, middle-income group throughout Southern Africa.
Initially employed as a Trainee Programmer on the Client Server Support Team in Jan 1999, promoted to Programmer in June 1999, Senior Programmer in Jan 2000 and Analyst Programmer in June 2000. Moved to the Merchandise Systems Support Team in July 2000.
Analyst Programmer – Merchandise Systems Support Team (July 2000 – August 2001)
Position’s responsibilities included the:
- Administration of the head office Merchandise applications for the Foschini group of companies using Arthur Merchandise Planning, Arthur Architect, Comshare Decision Desktop & Oracle PL/SQL on MS Windows 95/NT, DOS and Unix platforms. This involved extensive liaison with users.
- Development of database procedures and online reports as legacy systems were migrated onto newer platforms.
Projects / achievements include:
- Development of data extracts & data ageing scripts for the client server databases – analysed requirements, developed and implemented data extraction & ageing procedures for MS SQL and Oracles databases.
- Changed the underlying product structures for 9 client server systems – implemented and tested large scale product structure changes, for which the Jewellery companies mission critical client server systems (Visual Basic) do not cater. Feed and impact to the Mainframe jewellery system tested as well.
- Development of a "Product Structure & Attribute Reporting" system – using MS Access developed a system to report on the Product Structure and Attributes for the Jewellery companies. Developed, implemented and provided training/support for the system.
Junior to Analyst Programmer – Client Server Support Team (Jan 1999 – June 2000)
Position’s responsibilities included the:
- Trouble-shooting and problem-solving, maintenance, modification and upgrading of the head office client server systems for the Foschini Group of companies
- These client server systems comprised approximately 150 retail related systems using Visual Basic 3/4/6, SQL 6.5/7, MS Access and Crystal Reports on a MS Windows 95 platform.
Position involves extensive liaison with users and fielding of support calls regarding production problems and user requirements for system enhancements
Projects / achievements include:
- Development of a "Point of Sale Download Request" system - system records and action requests for file downloads from Head Office to Stores. Developed, implemented and provided training/support to users on the system.
- Development of the group’s "Psychometric Data Capturing & Analyses" system – assisted in investigating system requirements. Developed, implemented and provided training/support to users
- Extensive Report Development for the organisation’s "Customer Complaints" system – developed and implemented various levels of reporting (i.e. management, operational, etc) to the above-mentioned system using Crystal Reports.
