The program provides system integration services to British Telecommunications plc (BT). This involves the enhancement, growth, support, and maintenance of a networked real-time 24x7 fault tolerant CRM Windows NT solution. This solution uses Cisco’s NAM/ICM software as a hosted service offered to the UK Multi-Call Centre market. I had overall responsibility for the program’s commercial, financial, and business activities with average annual revenue of £5 million.
Achievements:
- Designed, developed and installed new versions of bespoke security software.
- Designed, developed and installed centrally managed Norton Antivirus solution.
- Designed, developed and installed a centrally managed distributed Veritas Backup Exec solution.
- Designed developed and installed new RAS server solution using Cisco hardware.
- Upgraded Symantec pcAnywhere.
- Successful major software upgrades of the platform to ICM V4.1.3 and to V4.5
- Designed and developed new SOE unattended build solution for platform’s base system software.

Responsibilities:
- Program Profit and Loss Statement. Report monthly cost and margin with program status to management. Manage project costs to approved budget. Produce monthly time and materials and fix price invoice reports to customer.
- Produce annual Program Plan and associated fixed price and time and material work package project plans. Define scope and identify delivery risks to all packages, develop mitigation and contingency strategies. Produced Statements of Work (SoW) and Work Package quotes.
- Manage program’s Change Management in conjunction with BT management.
- Manage a team of 15: a solution architect, an administrator, engineers, contractors, consultants, and a Hells Angel.
- Provided design and consultancy services to improve, expand and enhance the platform.
- Produce proposals and plans for new business opportunities and revenue growth.
- Produce revenue and resource planning forecasts.
- Manage program communications to all stakeholders via written reports, emails, audio conferences, and face-to-face meetings.
- Interviewed, selected, and hired suitable engineers and consultants for project delivery, for both contractor and permanent staff.
- Develop and manage program’s processes and procedures and ensured adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and methodologies (i.e. PMO).
- Manage cross-functional and multi-level issues internal to the company, the customer organisation, and third parties organisations to avoid and/or resolve delivery delays.

Developed an EDI business communications product called DEC/EDI. Responsible for the development and maintenance of the software’s Translation Services and Communication Gateway Services throughout a number of product releases.
- Performed all levels of analysis, design, implementation, and testing of software (SDLC).
- Developed the detail design, and coded and tested the X12 Translation Server component.
- Responsible for all communication gateway services; Bisync, X.400, X.435, OFTP, and SMTP/MIME gateways.
- Managed an Industrial Trainee for one year.
- Managed relationship with third party products and VAN (Value Added Network) providers.
- Acted as a liaison with end users and field personnel during field trails and for normal maintenance and support.
- Managed team’s PC software and hardware procurement
- Performed role of SQA local agent by submitting technical requirements to software manufacturing and performing verification tests.

Northern Telecom Inc., USA
Jan. 1988 to Feb. 1989 Software Engineer II, Technology Department
Developed the Digital Facility Management System (DFMS), a Sun Unix based networked and distributed system for the surveillance and management of T1carrier digital facilities network for the regional Telco market in Canada and the USA.
- Developed detailed designs based on top-level design, product specification, and data dictionary. The detail designs consisted of structure charts, psuedo-code, code reviews, and unit test plans.
- Designed, coded, and tested GUI features. This entailed the use of the Sybase forms package, SunView Windows, and SQL and C code.
- Acted as a liaison to customers and coordinated the execution of the Field Trial Test Plan.
- Developed the product’s application layer installation procedure.
April 1987 to Dec. 1987 Systems Engineer II, Technology Department
Designed and performed system tests to certify the functional performance, load capability and quality of 'end to end' DFMS 7020/7025 network. Responsibilities included:
- Preparation of system test plans and their associated summary reports (as per IEEE specification 829) along with test environments, specifications, test cases/procedures and logs.
June 1985 to April 1987 Software Quality Assurance Engineer I, QA Department
Monitored design standards and performed ‘end to end’ system tests. Prepared and implemented quality measurements, and evaluated testing requirements assuring customer satisfaction and maintainability of software products. Responsibilities included:
- Development, implementation, and tracking of software design standards.
- Tracked software field complaints and determined their corrective action.
- Verified the acceptability of fixes and enhancements for several releases of the software.
