Technical Leadership and Project Management
Self employed since May of 2000. Responsible for acquiring new business and supporting existing customers. Core business focus is the implementation of Clarify.
Acted as technical lead for a team of Clarify developers at Nortel Networks since May 2000. Clarify was successfully rolled out and currently has 25,000 users (4,000 concurrent). Currently providing monthly enhancement releases in addition to operational and analytical reporting capabilities from the Clarify system.
Lead multiple implementations of ClearSupport, ClearContracts, ClearQuality, and ClearSales using Clarify versions 6,7, and 8. Responsibilities included pre-sales activities, working with Clarify to sell the product, initial scoping and system architecture, design, coding, testing, rollout, interface development, and documentation. Trained new consultants on the operations and customization of the Clarify product.
Exceeded revenue objectives for 1998 managing the Clarify business unit of Camelot Consulting Group. Tasked with starting the business unit in early 1998 and managing technical and business development of the group. Responsibilities include managing the business unit, overseeing multiple projects and employees, developing new business, recruiting experienced team members, selling Camelot services, training the consulting staff, and organizational planning.
Lead planning efforts for Phase II implementation of Clarify at Echostar Corporation. Technologies include providing web access to Clarify, integrating with hand-held units (palmtops), and utilizing the ARDIS digital network for remote updates to the system.
Lead new business development efforts for several Clarify projects including Compaq and Viewsonic.
Provided direction and consulting for Clarify ClearSupport, ClearLogistics, and ClearSales implementation using Clarify 6.0 for USWest Telecommunications. Responsibilities included leading the Clarify team through process analysis, system design, interface design, system configuration, and data migration planning.
Managed project to implement a Scheduling and Dispatch System for Dish Installation Network (Echostar Corporation). The system tracked installation and service jobs across the nation and was a heavily customized implementation of Clarify 5.0. Responsibilities included proposal development, negotiations, project management, system architecture and design, interface design, code, test, deployment, and training. Wore many hats to make sure all aspects of project were successfully completed.
Successfully managed a rapid implementation of the Clarify ClearSupport module for USWest, a major telecommunications corporation. Responsibilities involved initial project scoping, contract negotiations, managing customer expectations, managing cost and schedule, business process analysis and modeling, process mapping into the Clarify workflow model, installing and configuring the ClearSupport module, customizing the user interface, migrating legacy data through custom data loaders developed in ClearBasic, training users and administrators, and supporting the implementation through production.
Managed project to develop an inventory tracking and management system using barcode technology. Responsible for estimating project cost and schedule, setting and obtaining goals, directing team of employees and subcontractors, technical development of database and data collection application, and product integration.
Responsible for Year 2000 system test plan development as lead systems engineer.
Performed product analysis, selection, and purchase, effectively resolved customer and technical issues, and coordinated task closure as lead systems engineer for major government engineering change effort.
Developed and implemented a no cost department training plan and education process for Loral Corporation’s system engineering group.
Software Development and Application Programming
- Contracted with Nortel Networks since May 2000 to provide Clarify technical expertise. Designed and developed customizations to the ClearSupport module (Clarify versions 8-10). Employed Clarify suite of customization tools, ClearBasic, Oracle PL/SQL, and PERL. Aided developers in the integration of Clarify with other systems (Primus, Lyris, Legacy Oracle System). Worked with Business to understand and define requirements for system and reporting modifications. Worked with teams from other modules to integrate shared functionality and debug their customizations. Traveled to Europe and Canada to support global rollout of functionality and work with the business to understand how processes could be streamlined using the system. Migrated data from various other systems to the Global Clarify Instance. Developed reporting universe using Business Objects 5i and created core set of reports based off the Clarify data structure. Currently supporting global reporting and customization efforts.
- Implemented Clarify for multiple customers ranging from out of the box functionality to heavily customized and integrated systems. Held the Stearman Technology Group "Package Architect" position since commencement with the company. Responsible for providing technical guidance to consultants in the field in addition to running projects that ranged from teams to working independently. Customers included: Intertech, GE Aircraft Engines, ServiceMaster, Micros, viaLink, and Gelco. Responsibilities for each client varied including application installation and configuration, project management, development, application architecture, business process re-engineering, gap analysis, interface design, interface development, and training. Projects varied, using Clarify versions 5.0 through 8.0.
- Design and Developed a web-based quoting system for Software Licensing Services using ColdFusion 5.0 and SQL Server 2000. The system automated the quoting process for software licensing purchases, reducing the timeframe required for generating quotes and providing the organization with a streamlined service to their customers.
- Designed and implemented nationwide scheduling and dispatch system for Echostar Communications Corporation using Clarify 5.0. Managed a team of 5, designed, developed, and tested system functionality. Installed, configured, and customized Clarify 5.0 far beyond out of the box functionality; integrated with faxserver software to provide automatic faxing of job details to field service engineers; Interactive Voice Response system, to allow users to access and update job information over the telephone; Oracle financials package, to provide streamlined integration with existing enterprise systems; QMS, to provide geographical locating functionality; Edify, to allow for more flexibility in paging notifications; Oracle Reports 2.5, to provide the user base with access to vital scheduling information.
- Developed an automated order processing system using Visual Basic 6.0 and MS Access. System was migrated to SQL Server 6.5 after implementation. The system supported the volume software licensing distribution channel by providing an efficient means of order placement and fulfillment. Responsible for technical design, architecture (of database and application), development, test, and deployment.
- Acted as Clarify technical lead for a team of developers implementing the ClearContracts module for USWest Telecommunications. Responsibilities included translating business requirements into Clarify technical and workflow requirements, consulting on interface development through Crossworlds interface product, designing and implementing interfaces to Oracle Financials AR package, customizing the user interface and database schema, writing ClearBasic code to migrate legacy data and add functionality to user screens as well as server processes, training users and administrators, and testing interfaces and customizations made to the product.
- Responsible for installation, customization, and maintenance of internal Clarify configuration used to manage workflow within the company. Technical responsibilities include installation of MS SQL Server 6.5 and Sybase SQL Server on a Windows NT Server platform (client platform - Windows 95), installation of Clarify software, creation and maintenance of databases, customization of user interface screens and data dictionary, and end user training.
- Customized Clarify 5.0 for Sprint Telecommunications to support implementation effort. Worked remotely translating customer requirements into design specifications and ClearBasic code.
- Developed Clarify interfaces, for MCI Telecommunications Corporation, using ClearBasic that provided cross system communications between Oracle 7.3, Clarify user interface screens, and Sybase System 11. Also performed customization of case screens and underlying objects using UIE, DDE, and ClearBasic to accommodate business specific requirements. - Rapidly developed an automated proposal estimation system, for Lockheed Martin Corporation, which drastically reduced workload on proposal teams. Turned the project around for deployment in less than 3 months. Object oriented development allowed for code reuse throughout the supporting applications. Created standalone and network install routines for corporate-wide distribution. Re-architected database for more efficient transaction processing. - Architected and developed and automated mortgage reporting system using three tier architecture concepts and object oriented methodology. The system provided detailed PC based reporting from AS400 based systems. Interfaces were developed to communicate with external FoxPro, Access, and AS400 sources. - Developed automated sales system for Fortune 500 computer distribution company (Intelligent Electronics). The system offered customers the ability to automatically place and track software orders anywhere in the nation. Identified requirements, defined database architecture, developed database and front-end screens, defined and implemented dynamic business rules engine to allow for future expansion of supported programs. - Designed and developed an automated inventory and production tracking system. The application eliminated the need for paper based production travelers used to track items as they are assembled on the production line. - Developed multimedia brochure and installation routines for standalone, network, and CD-ROM environments. The brochure provided the client with a powerful marketing tool for distribution to potential customers allowing them to walk through photos of the manufacturing floor, learn about the company, and view examples of work done for their clients. - Developed inventory tracking and management system database and data collection application to track over 15000 hardware items, using barcode technology.
